Import
Import external scan results from third-party tools into the engagement's findings and intelligence data.
How Import Works
The Import tab allows you to bring in scan results from tools not directly managed by Crucible. Imported data is parsed, normalized to the universal finding schema, and merged into the engagement's findings and intelligence panels.
The tab uses a split-pane layout similar to the Console: a job list sidebar on the left and a console output pane on the right showing parser progress.
Import Controls
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Tool Selector | Dropdown to specify the source tool format. Options include all supported parsers. Select Auto-detect (default) to let Crucible determine the format from the file contents. |
| Import File | Upload one or more scan result files. Supported formats depend on the selected parser (XML, JSON, CSV, HTML, etc.). |
| Import Folder | Import an entire directory of scan results. Crucible will recursively parse all compatible files within the folder. |
Import Job Feed
The left sidebar shows a feed of import jobs. Each job entry displays:
- Source tool/format detected
- File name or folder path
- Job status (processing, completed, error)
- Finding count imported
Click a job to view its parser output in the right console pane. The console shows real-time progress including which files are being parsed, how many findings were extracted, and any parsing errors.
Supported Import Formats
Crucible's import system supports results from both pr0t31n tools and external third-party scanners. Imported findings are normalized to the universal schema and appear in the Findings tab alongside native tool findings.
External parsers include formats from tools like Nessus (.nessus XML), Burp Suite (XML), and other industry-standard scanners. The Auto-detect option examines file headers and structure to identify the source format.
Console Output
The right pane provides a console-style view of the import job's progress. Includes:
- File-by-file parsing progress
- Finding extraction counts
- Schema normalization messages
- Duplicate detection (findings that match existing ones)
- Error messages for unparseable content
A Copy button and Auto-scroll toggle are available in the toolbar.
